I made letters for Kyle's nursery about 2 months before he was born, so now it is time for Katie's own letters.
For Kyle's letters, I took unfinished wood letters and painted them.

For Katie's letters, I tried something new and used scrapbook paper.
First, I picked out five coordinating papers.

This time, I used white wooden letters from Hobby Lobby. I used a 40% off coupon for each which made them less than $2.00 each and also saved time since they were white to start with.
I flipped the paper over to it's back-side and turned the letter over as well and traced it, leaving a little bit of freedom to cut imperfectly.

All cut out.

Then I applied a layer of Mod Podge to the front of the letter.

After the Mod Podge dried, I cut off most of the excess edges.

Then I used sandpaper to get off the rest.

Then a few more layers of Mod Podge were applied. I also sealed the edges with the Mod Podge.

After everything was dry, I cut off the excess Mod Podge along the edges. Unfortunately, our electricity went out because of a storm (even though we never lost power during the ice storm???) and I finished them up by candle light.

The finished product!

Oh, and here is the bedding I attempted to coordinate...kinda.

You did such a great job on her name!! And what a trooper for doing it by candle light! I just love hobby lobby and those 40% off coupons. Me and a couple girls are going to be scrapbooking on Friday night up at our office if you want to join us.
ReplyDeleteOh and thanks for the fish offer! I would love them but Daniel says we don't have room or time for fish(crazy since I think fish are the most easy pet to have!) Are you going to De Queen for the summer?
